{"id":771,"date":"2013-10-14T10:15:04","date_gmt":"2013-10-14T16:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alwayssupportourheroes.com\/WordPress\/?p=771"},"modified":"2013-10-14T10:15:04","modified_gmt":"2013-10-14T16:15:04","slug":"sending-cards-to-wounded-warriors-repost-from-2010-still-in-effect-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alwayssupportourheroes.com\/?p=771","title":{"rendered":"Sending cards to Wounded Warriors \u2013 repost from 2010, still in effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><\/h2>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"attachment_348\">\n<dt><a href=\"http:\/\/www.alwayssupportourheroes.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Christmas-card-for-a-hero-....jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.alwayssupportourheroes.com\/WordPress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/Christmas-card-for-a-hero-....jpg\" width=\"522\" height=\"671\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<p><strong>THIS BLOG POST IS FROM 2010, however, I have made changes to it based on the changes that have occurred in my life since it was originally written.\u00a0\u00a0Any cards sent to me will either be forwarded via mail to my contacts to distribute at the the Combat Surgical\u00a0Hospital in Afghanistan, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, Walter Reed, Bethesda,\u00a0or Brooke Army Medical Centers\u00a0.\u00a0 YOU MUST UNDERSTAND COMPLETELY THAT IF YOU SEND A LETTER TO \u201cANY SOLDIER\u201d OR \u201cA WOUNDED WARRIOR\u201d, without an actual name, or contact, it will be thrown in the trash.\u00a0 Please read below for details.\u00a0\u00a0My current mailing address is as the bottom of this updated blog.\u00a0 Thank you.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Thanks so much for ALL your support through the years\u00a0with my efforts to support our valiant heroes both on the battlefield, or here at \u201chome\u201d.\u00a0 The opportunities I have had\u00a0to visit some of our Wounded Warriors over the years has changed my life forever.\u00a0 When I have had a medical treatment I have felt scared or didn&#8217;t want to do (many of them in that 28 month time period of being on disability); I just remembered what was said to me in those hospital beds.\u00a0 Those brave men are not broken individuals, they are heroes in every sense of the word &#8230; and my memories of time spent with them will always be inspirational.\u00a0 While at\u00a0the\u00a0hospitals visiting our troops, I specifically asked what happens to cards where the envelope arrives without a specific person on it.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The response at\u00a0all locations\u00a0has always been\u00a0the same.\u00a0 <\/em><strong>&#8220;Since 9\/11 and the threat of anthrax, any letters\/cards\/packages sent to a Military facility without a specific name, are destroyed&#8221;.\u00a0<\/strong><em> On the internet many people email and say \u201csend a card to \u201cany soldier\u201d or \u201cany wounded hero\u201d.\u00a0 Please know these fall into the above category.<\/em> <em>If you or anyone you know wants to (and please, I encourage you to do so!!!) write a Wounded service member, please feel free to send them to me, (or any legitimate organization who says they will deliver them for you, there are plenty of them on the internet).\u00a0 Our troops need and deserve our support and a card is such an easy way to uplift someone\u2019s spirits.\u00a0 Just write on the envelope \u201cservice member\u201d or \u201cwounded warrior\u201d or something like that, and I will know NOT to open it.
